A great way to bring art into your every day activities is with Functional Fused Glass Art. My functional artworks include sushi plates, square platters, coasters, bowls, and lamps. These pieces involve heating cut sheets of glass of various colors and shapes in a kiln at a high temperature. When they reach the ‘soft’ point, the pieces of glass ‘fuse’ together to make one piece. A second firing creates the shape of the dish as it drops into a mold.
All the items are food safe but should not be put into a microwave or oven. They should be hand washed as well.
